UD womens soccer falls to Virginia Commonwealth 3:55 p.m., Oct. 31, 2003--The University of Delaware womens soccer team fell 4-1 to Virginia Commonwealth in an important Colonial Athletic Association match on Thursday evening. With the loss, Delaware dropped to 9-5-3 overall and 4-2-2 in conference while Virginia Commonwealth improved to 9-5-3 overall and 4-1-3 in conference. The Rams moved into sole possession of third place in CAA while the Fightin Blue Hens slipped to fourth. Delaware had not allowed four goals in a match since a 4-0 loss to LaSalle University last season. The loss also marked the first time since 2002 that the Hens have lost by a margin of three goals or more. Virginia Commonwealth took an early lead on a UD own goal at 21:14. Sandra Anger scored 16 minutes later to give the Rams a 2-0 lead going into halftime and Jen Parsons added two goals in the second half. Trailing 4-0, the Blue Hens tallied the final score of the game when freshman defender Jennifer Krepps scored on penalty kick in the 88th minute. UD redshirt freshman goalkeeper Bonnie Mills had five saves. The Blue Hens will close out the regular season with their final conference match at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 1, at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
