Termini goal wins it for UD women’s soccer

3:54 p.m., Sept. 29, 2003--The University of Delaware women's soccer team defeated Drexel University 1-0 in Colonial Athletic Association action Sunday afternoon at the Delaware Mini-Stadium.

UD senior Francesca Termini scored at 29:54 off an assist from senior Beth Garufi for the victory.

Termini's goal was her seventh of the season and the 25th of her career, which puts her third in all-time career goals at Delaware.

In goal, UD sophomore Lindsay Shover notched five saves. It was Shover’s second shutout of the season and the eighth of her career.

Delaware raised its record to 5-3-1 overall and 1-1 in CAA.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens will return to conference action with a game at the College of William & Mary at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 3. The Tribe is 5-4-1 overall and 1-1 in CAA.

Delaware dropped its CAA opener, falling 1-0 in overtime to Hofstra on Friday at the Mini-Stadium.

Hofstra's Marisa Pistone scored the golden goal off an assist from Elysee Bizzozzaro at 102:10 to end the game.

Delaware’s best opportunities of the match occurred late in the first overtime with shots by Termini and Caryn Blood that went just wide. Shover had four saves in the match.
