UD women’s soccer team defeats UMBC

1:25 p.m., Sep. 3, 2003--Three different University of Delaware women’s soccer team players scored goals to lead the Fightin’ Blue Hens to their second victory of the season, a 3-0 win over the University of Maryland Baltimore County on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 2.

UD senior Trisha Breault scored her first goal of the season and of the game with less than six minutes to go in the first half when senior tri-captain Caryn Blood served her the ball five yards from goal.

Second half goals by sophomores Shelby Lawrence and Allison Kendro helped UD secure the win.

Lawrence tallied her first collegiate goal less than 10 minutes into the second half off an assist from senior tri-captain Maria Pollaro.

The third and final goal of the game came at 75:00 when junior Ginette Buffone dished the ball to Kendro near the right corner of the net.

UD sophomore goalkeeper Lindsay Shover recorded her second shutout in as many games and the eighth of her career. She now ranks fourth all-time in career shutouts at Delaware.

The Blue Hens return to action on Friday, Sept. 5, as they travel to the University of North Carolina Charlotte for a tournament.
