Diana, Edell, Lynch named second team All-CAA

Jenny Diana
10:52 a.m., May 3, 2004--University of Delaware women's lacrosse players Jenny Diana, Erin Edell and Allison Lynch have been named second team All-Colonial Athletic Association. The UD players were among 24 included on the CAA’s first and second teams.

Diana, a freshman attack, was one of three rookies named to the All-CAA teams. She leads the Fightin’ Blue Hens in goals and points, with 35 goals and six assists for 41 points.

Erin Edell
Diana's 35 goals are the most by a freshman since Jenn Rinnander scored 38 in 1991. Diana earned CAA Rookie of the Week Honors after scoring two goals and one assist in her debut, an 11-7 win over Mount St. Mary's in February.

Edell, a junior midfielder, earned second team honors for the second straight season. She ranked fourth on the squad in points, with 21 goals and three assists, and led the team in draw controls with 39. Edell also picked up 40 ground balls, the second highest total on the team.

Allison Lynch
Lynch, a junior, started all 15 games as a key member of the UD defense. She caused a team-high 22 turnovers, picked up 37 ground balls and notched six draw controls. Lynch also scored her fourth career goal against Pennsylvania on March 3.

James Madison's Gail Decker was named the CAA Player of the Year and Missy Holmes of Towson was named Coach of the Year.

The UD women's lacrosse team currently owns a 5-10 record and concludes its season by hosting 19th ranked Penn State at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 8, at Rullo Stadium.
