Wellness Center offers stroke screening

11:26 a.m., Feb. 9, 2004--Strokes, caused by a rupture or obstruction of an artery of the brain, can lead to serious disability and are the third leading cause of death in the United States. UD’s Employee Wellness Center is offering a stoke screening for 10 Wellness dollars to help employees assess their chances of having a stroke.

The process takes only 10 minutes, using the Delaware Stroke Initiative Screening tool, and consists of a series of questions and a blood pressure check for participants, who will learn if they are at risk. All participants will receive an educational packet about strokes and a free copy of the 70-page “Pocket Guide to Good Health for Adults.”

The screenings will be held from noon-2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 25, in 125 Alfred Lerner Hall. To schedule a 10-minute appointment, call 831-8388.
