Future Blue Hens learn about Ag opportunities
This is the second year of the program, and approximately 40 students with an interest in agriculture and natural resources and their parents took part in the days program, Karen Aniunas, assistant dean for student services, said. We offered a variety of interesting and fun activities in half-hour sessions, and students and parents could choose different ones. They ranged from farm, garden and greenhouse tours to sessions on soil science, horses, wildlife biology and pre-veterinary programs, as well as more general sessions on UD, including admissions information and a campus tour. Box lunches were provided and YoUDee made an appearance and entertained the students, Aniunas said. The feedback has been positive, with some students back for a second year, including some who brought along their siblings, she said. Our goal is to have a good relationship with Delaware teenagers, acquaint them with UD and the college and encourage them to make good decisions about taking courses for admission, Aniunas said.
