10:40 a.m. Nov. 3, 2003--The University of Delaware volleyball team won two home Colonial Athletic Association matches this weekend, defeating the University of North Carolina Wilmington 3-0 on Friday and the College of William & Mary 3-0 on Saturday at Barb Viera Court in the Carpenter Sports Building.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens will return to CAA action next weekend for games at James Madison University on Friday, Nov. 7, and Virginia Commonwealth University on Saturday, Nov. 8.

In Saturday’s victory over William & Mary, UD sophomore Niecy Taylor led four Hens in double-figure kills with 12. Freshman Claire McCormack had 11 kills, six assists and four service aces for the Hens, while juniors Sarah Engle and Valerie Murphy had 10 kills each and junior Taylor Govaars had 14 digs.

Taylor had 10 kills and senior Liz Ommundsen had five kills and 12 digs in Friday’s victory over UNC Wilmington. Junior Megan McGrath and McCormack had eight kills each, Engle had seven kills and 28 assists, Govaars had 14 digs and freshman Jocelyn Greenwald had 11 assists.

With the victories, UD raised its record to 11-13 overall and 5-5 in conference. The Hens are tied for fourth in the conference with James Madison, which is key because four teams will be invited to the CAA championship tournament.
