Delaware volleyball to face Temple Sept. 16

10:10 a.m., Sept. 15, 2003--The University of Delaware volleyball team won the final contest of three played in the Rutgers University Clarion Classic this weekend.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens (3-6) will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at Temple University in Philadelphia. Match time is 7 p.m.

UD opened the Clarion Classic with a 3-0 loss to host Rutgers on Friday. The game scores were 31-29, 30-28 and 30-26.

Delaware's Valerie Murphy had 11 kills and Niecy Taylor had eight.

UD fell to George Washington University 3-0 in the Saturday morning match before defeating St. Peter's College 3-0 that afternoon.

In the morning match, George Washington swept the Blue Hens in straight sets, 30-20, 30-23 and 30-22.

In that match, Taylor had 10 kills and Murphy nine.

The duo of Taylor and Murphy led the Blue Hens to a 3-0 victory over St. Peter's, 30-25, 30-18 and 30-15. Murphy had 15 kills and Taylor had 10.
