Upgrade RealPlayer to deal with security flaw 12:25 p.m., April 9, 2004--IT-User Services advises all University Windows PC users that RealPlayer software, used to play courseware and other streaming video over the UD network, has a security vulnerability that could allow hackers to spread a worm or take control of users computers. Windows users should deal with the vulnerability immediately by uninstalling any previous version of RealPlayer and downloading the latest version of RealPlayer10 Gold at [www.udel.edu/UMS/itv/realplayer/], Janet de Vry, manager, IT-User Services, said. This vulnerability does not affect Macintosh computer users. Currently all official UD streaming video is safe, de Vry said. However, the vulnerability could be exploited by certain media originating from off campus. It is an important practice to update software whenever a vulnerability is announced.
