Two incidents reported

11:28 a.m., Oct. 9, 2003--A UD student was robbed off campus on Oct. 7, and a man was arrested for aggravated menacing and other felony charges on campus on Oct. 8.

Around 10:10 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 7, a 20-year-old UD student was robbed in the 600 block of Lehigh Road. The student was getting out of his car in the parking lot of the Park Place apartment complex when he was approached by two young men with handguns. They took cash and a cell phone from the student, then fled through the parking lot toward Lehigh Road. The student was not injured.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call Det. Paul Keld of Newark Police at 366-7110, ext. 136, or Crimestoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333, where information can be left anonymously.

On Wednesday, Oct. 8, shortly after 9 a.m., a man identified as Dwayn Reynolds was seen carrying a large stick in the Trabant University Center. When approached by a University police officer, he refused to talk and started to run away. After a struggle, he got away and ran toward Delaware Avenue with the officer in pursuit.

At one point, Reynolds pulled a 3-foot length of chain with a padlock from his backpack and started swinging it at the officer. He went through the Orchard Road parking lot, keeping officers at bay with the chain.

After Reynolds was subdued, University Police found that he has an extensive arrest history of assault and menacing in several states, and a search of his backpack revealed several potentially dangerous instruments. He told officers he was “on a mission” and described himself as an “alien hunter.”

He was in custody at Gander Hill Prison Wednesday afternoon.
