Hen track teams compete at ECAC championships

9:35 a.m., May 18, 2004--The University of Delaware track and field teams participated in the Eastern College Athletic Association (ECAC) championships over the weekend at Yale University in New Haven, Conn., with pole vaulter Casey Bennett the top individual finisher and the women’s 4 x 400-meter relay team setting a school record.

Bennett placed 11th in the women’s pole vault competition, jumping 11 feet, 9-3/4 inches. The 4 x 400 relay team of Brittany Wright, Rachel Schultz, Mandy Stille and Tyechia Smith finished 12th and set a school record with a time of 3:50.16.

Also for the UD women, the 4 x 100-meter relay team of Wright, Stille, Daniella Price and Smith placed 21st with a time of 47.88, and Wright finished 22nd in the 100 meters with a time of 12.24. Rachel Young finished 22nd in the discus with a throw of 127 feet, 3 inches.

Patrick Riley finished in 19th place in the 10,000 meters with a time of 30:59.18, and Mike Yost finished 19th in the discus with a throw of 171 feet, 5 inches, at the IC4A Championships, also held at Yale. Mike Sadowsky finished 27th in the 10,000 meters with a time of 32:22.38.

Bennett and Stille will compete at the NCAA East Regionals to be held May 28-29 at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
