UD indoor track records set by Riley, relay team
Also at the meet, the UD women's 4x400-meter relay team established a school record in the preliminaries and finished in eighth place in the finals. The meet was the final indoor competition of the year for both UD teams. Riley was the top finisher for the UD mens team as he finished 12th in the 5,000 meters, running a school record time of 14:35.18. Dave Geesaman set the former record of 14:39.19 in 1998. UDs Roger Brown finished 17th in the 55 meters (6.56), and Jerome Holder finished 23rd in the 55-meter hurdles (7.93). The mens 4x400 meter relay team of Holder, Charlie Williams, Andrew Cox and Phil Smiley finished 22nd in a time of 3:18.75, less than one second off the school record set in 1973. UD earned its only point of the weekend in the women's competition when the 4x400 relay team of Kristen Frustillo, Tyechia Smith, Brittany Wright and Mandy Stille finished eighth in a time of 3:51.39. The team broke the school record set earlier this season with a time of 3:50.27 in the preliminaries Saturday. The eighth place finish, which earns the relay team All-East recognition, was the highest for the UD womens team at the ECAC indoor championships since the 2000 season when Annemarie Quinn finished sixth in the high jump. Also for the UD women, Casey Bennett was 14th in the pole vault, Stille was 14th in the long jump (17 feet, 11-1/2 inches) and Smith was 19th in the 400 meters (58.17).
