Paintings by Dan Teis exhibited at Newark Free Library
11:45 a.m., Nov. 13, 2003--The Newark Free Library is currently displaying six paintings created by the late Dan Teis, former chairperson of UDs Department of Art.
Dr. Teis wife, Joyce, donated the paintings and at 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 14, the Newark Free Library will hold a free public reception. to honor the gift. Kyra Teis will be speaking about her fathers work.
After a one-person show of his large, abstract paintings at the Delaware Art Museum in 1974, Dr. Teiss work became the first contemporary art to be accepted and critically acclaimed in Delaware. He exhibited widely in the U.S., where his work is represented in many public and private collections.
