Newark Symphony Orchestra performs Dec. 14 3:51 p.m., Dec. 9, 2003--The Newark Symphony Orchestra will perform its final Symphony Series concert of 2003 at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 14, in the Loudis Recital Hall of the Amy E. du Pont Music Building. Entitled Soaring Spirits, the concert will feature Symphony No. 2 by Johannes Brahms, the Fra Diavolo Overture by Daniel-François Auber and Umi No Naka (In the Sea) by guest artist Jeannine Maddox. Maddox, who pursued advanced studies in Japan with marimba master Keiko Abe, wrote Umi No Naka to express her wonder for nature and spiritual harmony. The program is made possible, in part, by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Delaware Division of the Arts. Tickets, available at the door, are $12 for the general public, $10 for senior citizens, $6 for students and free for youths 12 and under.
