2:46 p.m., May 28, 2004--A special convocation for 30 students who completed their UD coursework in Southern Delaware was held Thursday evening, May 27, at Rehoboth Beach Country Club in Rehoboth Beach.

The students completed requirements for bachelor’s degrees from the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the College of Arts and Sciences and bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees from the College of Human Services, Education and Public Policy.

“A special part of our spring celebrations at the University of Delaware is Commencement and our college and department convocations, which give us an opportunity to recognize our students in front of their peers, their families and friends, as well as their University colleagues on the faculty and staff,” UD President David P. Roselle said.

Julie Moyer Knowles, president of UD’s Alumni Association, congratulated the students and said they were about to join “a distinguished group of individuals who are involved with every human endeavor worldwide.”

“The University of Delaware now counts more than 130,000 among its alumni ranks, 70 percent of whom have graduated in the last 20 years,” Knowles said. “All alumni share the same academic preparation that you have experienced.”

A total of 45 graduates earned degrees in Southern Delaware this year, and, in addition to the special ceremony, all were invited to participate in Commencement, Saturday, May 29, in Delaware Stadium and to attend the convocations held by their colleges that day.
