Blue Hen softball team shut out by Villanova

11:48 a.m., April 22, 2004--The University of Delaware softball team was held scoreless as it dropped a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon at Villanova University.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens lost 1-0 and 3-0, falling to 21-19 on the season as they prepare for a three-game Colonial Athletic Association series against the University of North Carolina Wilmington. The teams will play at noon Saturday and Sunday at Delaware Field, with Saturday’s meeting a doubleheader.

UNC Wilmington enters the series with a record of 17-34.

In Wednesday’s opener, Carolynn Sloat took the loss for the Hens, although she allowed just four hits and struck out five Villanova batters. Randi Isaacs had two of UD’s three hits.

In the second game, Villanova’s Kristen Haynes threw a no-hitter and allowed just one base runner on a walk issue to Lauren Gardner.
