Special Olympics bowling tourney set Jan. 15

2:23 p.m., Jan. 14, 2004--After spending months training for the event, more than 350 athletes from across the New Castle County will meet on Thursday, Jan. 15, at Bowlerama in New Castle to participate in the Special Olympics Delaware’s 2004 Youth Bowling Tournament.

Spectators can enjoy the festivities at no charge while athletes in Special Olympics youth-aged programs show off their skills participating in singles, doubles and unified-doubles bowling competition.

Volunteers are being provided by Fleet Credit Card Services, the sponsor of the event, and by UD’s Athletic Trainers Club. Opening ceremonies are scheduled for 10:15 a.m., with the competition beginning at 10:45 a.m.
