Join the Great American Smokeout and ‘Leave the Pack Behind’

3:09 p.m., Oct. 22, 2003--Beating the addiction to cigarettes is difficult. So is helping to convince smokers that they should quit.

In observance of this year’s Great American Smokeout on Nov. 20, UD’s Employee Wellness Center will distribute free information packets to help smokers kick the habit and to help others help smokers to quit.

The Wellness Center will provide those who want to quit for good, and those who want to help a coworker, friend or family member break the habit, with information packets.

For smokers:

  • Tips and activities to help smokers get through the day;
  • Information that will help smokers beat the addiction for good; and
  • A summary of the countless benefits of quitting.

    Participatiing smokers will be eligible to win a $10 Grotto's Pizza gift certificate.

    For nonsmokers:

  • “Adopt a Smoker” information outlining and the best ways to help someone quit; and
  • Activities and other ways to encourage to someone to stay cigarette-free.

    Participating nonsmokers are eligible to win a $10 Newark Car Wash gift certificate.

    “Leave the Pack Behind” by registering online at [www.udel.edu/wellness] by Nov. 14. Packets will be distributed through campus mail on Nov. 17.
