Packers coach began as a Blue Hen

Bob Slowik
11:34 a.m., Jan. 6, 2004--A Fightin’ Blue Hen is a key member of the Green Bay Packers coaching staff as the team prepares for an NFL playoff game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 11, at Lincoln Financial Field.

Former University of Delaware football player Bob Slowik is in his second season as assistant head coach and his fourth as coach of the defensive backs on Mike Sherman’s staff at Green Bay.

In fact, it was one of Slowik’s defensive backs who helped the Packers advance in the playoffs, as Al Harris intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown in overtime as Green Bay defeated Seattle 33-27.

Slowik, who played defensive back for the Hens, began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at UD. He went on to coach at the University of Florida and Drake, Rutgers and East Carolina universities before joining the NFL in 1992 as a member of the staff of the Dallas Cowboys.

Slowik was the defensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears and the Cleveland Browns before joining Sherman’s staff at Green Bay.
