Packers coach began as a Blue Hen
Former University of Delaware football player Bob Slowik is in his second season as assistant head coach and his fourth as coach of the defensive backs on Mike Shermans staff at Green Bay. In fact, it was one of Slowiks defensive backs who helped the Packers advance in the playoffs, as Al Harris intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown in overtime as Green Bay defeated Seattle 33-27. Slowik, who played defensive back for the Hens, began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at UD. He went on to coach at the University of Florida and Drake, Rutgers and East Carolina universities before joining the NFL in 1992 as a member of the staff of the Dallas Cowboys. Slowik was the defensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears and the Cleveland Browns before joining Shermans staff at Green Bay. To learn how to subscribe to UDaily, click here. |
