Delaware softball pitcher is recognized by CAA
Sloat fired a pair of shutouts over the weekend as the Fightin Blue Hens swept a three-game series from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She allowed just four hits in a 2-0 win on Saturday and scattered seven hits in a 3-0 win on Sunday. Sloat leads the CAA in victories with 15 and is just the third 15-game winner in UD history. She also leads the CAA in complete games with 22 and strikeouts with 141. This is the fifth time Sloat has been honored by the conference, three times as the CAAs top pitcher and twice as its leading rookie. The Hens will next play a doubleheader at Rutgers University beginning at 3 p.m., Wednesday, April 28. Todays doubleheader at Rider University has been postponed because of overnight rain. UD, which is battling for a berth in the CAA championship tournament, will close out conference regular season play with a weekend series against Towson University at Delaware Field. The teams will play a doubleheader beginning at noon, Saturday, May 1, and a single game beginning at noon, Sunday, May 2. To learn how to subscribe to UDaily, click here. |
