Delawares Sailer named to CoSIDA All-Academic team
Sailer, the 2002 Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Year, carries a 3.52 grade point index as an elementary education major at UD and was named to the district second team. She is the Hens third leading scorer this season, averaging 9.6 points per game, and was a key contributor to the teams that made consecutive WNIT appearances in 2002 and 2003. Sailer ranks third all-time at UD in free throw percentage (.817), eighth in three-point field goals made (37) and 26th in career scoring (806 points). Sailer becomes the first UD women's basketball player to be named to the All-District team since forward Christina Rible and guard Megan Dellegrotti both earned second team honors in 2001-02. CoSIDA District II consists of all NCAA Division I schools in Delaware, Washington, D.C., Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. To be nominated for the Academic All-American team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.2 or higher cumulative grade point index, and be a starter or key reserve for her team. All first team selections are now eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-American team.
