Lecture by nonprofit leader marks anniversary

Emmett Carson
9:58 a.m., June 1, 2004--Emmett Carson, a recognized leader in nonprofit management, will speak at 4 p.m., Tuesday, June 8, at Arsht Hall on the University’s Wilmington campus.

Carson’s lecture, “Can an Old Dog Learn New Tricks?: Restoring Public Confidence in the Nonprofit Sector,” will mark the anniversary of UD’s nonprofit management certificate course.

Now into its 15th year, the 16-week program, which is offered each spring, provides nonprofit executives with comprehensive, systematic and integrated strategies for successfully managing nonprofits.

Carson is president and CEO of the Minneapolis Foundation and has been chosen repeatedly by the Nonprofit Times as one of the 50 most influential nonprofit leaders in the United States. He has developed an international reputation for innovative philanthropy and has published more than 75 works on social justice issues and trends in the nonprofit sector.

The cost of the event is $15 per person and includes a reception. All participants are asked to arrive by 3:30 p.m. on the day of the lecture to sign in and collect nametags. Reservations are required and can be made by calling Lisa Jackson at 573-4475.
