Works by Paul Richards featured at Oct. 16 Society of Composers concert
11:45 a.m., Oct. 14, 2003--The University of Delaware Department of Music chapter of The Society of Composers will present a concert of works by composer Paul Richards at 8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 16, in Loudis Recital Hall of the Amy E. du Pont Music Building.
Faculty artists Cynthia Carr, horn, Julie Nishimura, piano, and Christiaan Taggart, guitar, will perform Richards Rush Hour for horn and piano, 635 Years Ago for solo guitar and Recastings for solo piano. Richards will introduce each piece to the audience and also will perform on piano. UD student musicians will perform Pulse and Drone for saxophone quartet.
An associate professor of composition at the University of Florida, Richards has won many awards for his compositions, and his music has been performed on five continents and recorded on the Capstone, Mark and Summit labels.
Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and $3 for students. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at the Trabant University Center or Bob Carpenter Center box offices.
