Delaware football team maintains No. 4 ranking

4:05 p.m., Oct. 6, 2003--The University of Delaware football team maintains its No. 4 ranking in this week’s NCAA Division I-AA polls conducted by The Sports Network/CSTV and by USA Today/ESPN.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens improved to 5-0 after a 41-27 victory over the College of William & Mary on Saturday night at Delaware Stadium.

McNeese State leads both polls, followed by Western Illinois and Villanova, which, like UD, is a member of the Atlantic 10 Football Conference. The Wildcats received nine first-place votes in The Sports Network/CSTV poll and three in the USA Today/ESPN poll.

Rounding out top 10 in both polls are Delaware, which received one first-place vote in The Sports Network/CSTV poll, Furman, Montana, Massachusetts, also of the Atlantic 10, Southern Illinois, Western Kentucky and Wofford.

Two other members of the Atlantic 10 are in the top 25. In both polls, Northeastern is ranked No. 19 and Maine is ranked No. 21.
