Eat pizza, save babies
12:25 p.m., Aug. 7, 2003--On Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 20-21, pizza-lovers will get a chance to indulge their taste buds while raising money for a good cause. From 5-8 p.m. on both days, 10 Pizza Huts throughout Delaware will donate a percentage of all sales made to patrons who mention the two-day March of Dimes promotion.
Participating restaurants include locations in Newark, New Castle, Wilmington, Dover, Seaford and Rehoboth Beach, and most establishments extend the offer to dine-in, carryout and delivery services.
Originally founded in 1938 to raise funds for the crusade against polio, March of Dimes is a national voluntary health agency that seeks to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects and infant mortality. Each year it funds research, education, advocacy and community outreach programs, and in 2003 the agency began a five-year campaign to address the increasing rate of premature births throughout the nation.
No coupons or discounts may be used with the fundraising offer, and patrons must mention the promotional event in order for percentages of sales to be donated to the March of Dimes. A list of participating restaurants, with their phone numbers and stipulations, follows.
For more information about this event, call 225-1020. To learn more about March of Dimes, visit [www.marchofdimes.com] or call 1-888-MODIMES.
