UD’s Peffer is selected CAA swimmer of the week

Sarah Peffer
10:17 a.m., Jan. 15, 2004--University of Delaware senior Sarah Peffer has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Swimming Performer of the Week for the second time this season, the conference announced Wednesday.

Peffer, a second-year transfer from the University of Nebraska, was selected for her performance in Sunday's tri-meet sweep over CAA foes Towson and James Madison at UD’s Harry Rawstrom Natatorium in the Carpenter Sports Building.

Earning the weekly CAA Men's Performer of the Week award were Towson's Aaron Krause and James Madison's Geoff Meyer. Sharing the women's award with Peffer was James Madison diver Lisa Enders. All four award recipients competed at the UD tri-meet.

A Blue Hen swimmer has now been honored with the award three times this season. Peffer also earned the award for the week of Nov. 18 and teammate Sara Stephens was honored Dec. 8.

On Sunday, Peffer won the 1,000-yard freestyle in a time of 10:28.18, the 400-yard individual medley in 4:34.29 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:06.08. She is the defending CAA champion in the 500 freestyle, 1,650 freestyle and 400 individual medley.

UD will compete in its final dual meet on Saturday, Jan. 24, at Loyola College in Baltimore. The CAA championships will be held Feb. 18-21 at George Mason University.
