4:40 p.m., April 23, 2004--A presentation on the new UD Early Learning Center, an update on admissions and a review of the Fightin’ Blue Hens’ national championship season were among the topics addressed during the spring meeting of the Parent Board on Saturday, April 17, at Clayton Hall.

Joining University President David P. Roselle in making presentations were Louis Hirsh, director of admissions, Karen Rucker, director of UD’s Early Learning Center, and K.C. Keeler, head coach of the UD football team.

Members of the Parent Board whose students are graduating this spring, including outgoing co-presidents Jim and Sue Sears of Media, Pa., were recognized for their service and dedication, while a special welcome was extended to new co-presidents Dan and Debra Oman of Ann Arbor, Mich. An overview of summer activities at UD, including DelaWorld 101, Delaware Discovery Days and New Student Welcome Receptions, in which Parent Board members will participate, was given.

After the meeting, Roselle and his wife, Louise, hosted a luncheon for Parent Board members and their students.

The Parent Board is a diverse group of families of current undergraduate students who usually serve for the duration of their student’s enrollment at UD. Besides meeting formally twice a year, board members serve as liaisons between UD and their local communities, assisting with admissions, development, career services and public relations activities.
