Install RealPlayer patch to deal with security flaw

9:17 a.m., June 15, 2004--User Services advises all University Windows PC users that RealPlayer software, used to play courseware and other streaming video over the UD network, has a security vulnerability that could allow hackers to take control of users’ computers.

“There is a critical vulnerability in the Windows version of RealPlayer.
All Windows users should immediately install the security update,” Janet de Vry, manager, IT-User Services, said.

For instructions on downloading the security patch go to [www.udel.edu/UMS/itv/realplayer/].

Macintosh users are unaffected and do not need to take action.
