Online parking permit registration shortens lines

3:30 p.m., Sept. 9, 2003--Thanks to a joint effort between UD’s Office of Human Resources and Parking Services, getting parking permits was a lot less of a chore for students during the first days of the fall semester.

Human Resources made staff and computer terminals available on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 2-3, to assist students in registering online for parking permits, while Parking Services offered extended hours during the first days of the fall semester.

“Registration went very smoothly—our best year yet,” Denise Tuttle, an administrative assistant in Public Safety, said. “The Human Resources staff were very helpful and enjoyed assisting the students.”

Tuttle said that there were seldom more than 15 persons at any given time waiting in line to apply for permits at Parking Services, compared with lines ranging from 75 to 100 in past years.

On Sept. 2, 145 individuals registered online and 88 registered on Sept. 4. Tuttle said that to date, more than 6,600 permits have been issued online.
