April 6, 2004--John C. Murphy, 38, of Medfield, Mass., died unexpectedly March 24 at Caritas Norwood Hospital in Norwood.

Born in Orange, N.J., Mr. Murphy earned his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering at the University of Delaware in 1988.

Mr. Murphy was most recently employed by the Wellington Management Co. in Boston where he served as vice president and senior systems manager. He previously worked for Miller Anderson & Sherrerd of Philadelphia, as well as Anderson Consulting Technology Center, the New Jersey Department of Insurance, PECO Energy in Philadelphia, Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceuticals and the U.S. Department of Treasury in Hyattsville, Md.

Mr. Murphy is survived by his mother, Alice A.; his wife, Ellen (Katz); two sons, Matthew G. and Bryan A.,; a daughter, Emily E.; two sisters, Jessica Phillips and Jennifer Clement; and two brothers, Gerard C. and Michael.
