Delaware men's tennis sweeps West Chester
9:55 a.m., Oct. 3, 2003--The University of Delaware men's tennis team won all six singles matches in straight sets and swept the doubles point in a 7-0 victory over West Chester University on Wednesday at the Delaware Field House Courts.
UD improved to 2-1 on the season. Posting singles victories for the Fightin Blue Hens were senior Sanjay Khindri at No. 1, junior John Tully at No. 2, sophomore Josh Ditman at No. 3, freshman Mike Riisen at No. 4, freshman Mike Austin at No. 5 and sophomore Philip Wayne at No. 6.
Tully remained undefeated on the season at 6-0, and he and Khindri both won their 30th career matches, becoming the 31st and 32nd players in school history to reach that mark. Tully and Khindri started the day by posting an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles over West Chester's Keith McCaffrey and Jimmy Orr.
Also picking up doubles wins for the Hens were the No. 2 team of Austin and Ari Zweig and the No. 3 tandem of Riisen and Adam Freedenberg.
Delaware is competing Friday and Saturday, Oct. 3-4, in the Towson Invitational
