Delaware men’s soccer battles to tie with UMBC

3:31 p.m., Sept. 22, 2003--The University of Delaware men's soccer team battled to a double-overtime 1-1 tie with host University of Maryland Baltimore County on Saturday afternoon.

UMBC took a 1-0 lead into the second half when Delaware sophomore Justin Arpan scored his second goal of the season off an assist from junior Adam Flanigan at 71:51 to tie the game at 1-1 and send it to overtime.

In goal, UD junior co-captain Kyle Haynes has six saves.

UMBC (4-0-2) had 15 shots to four for the Fightin’ Blue Hens.

Delaware (2-3-2) will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 24, when it travels to Washington, D.C., to take on Howard University. Game time is 7 p.m.
