UD men’s lacrosse team to visit Saint Joseph’s Feb. 14

11:59 a.m., Feb. 11, 2004--The University of Delaware men’s lacrosse team will open the 2004 season this weekend when the Fightin’ Blue Hens travel to Philadelphia for a game against St. Joseph’s University at 5 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 14.

The Hens will play at Lehigh University on Saturday, Feb. 21, before returning home for a game against Stony Brook (N.Y.) University at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, at Fred Rullo Stadium.

UD, led by Head Coach Bob Shillinglaw, is coming off a 5-10 season.

The Hens return three second team All-Colonial Athletic Association performers in senior midfielder Ryan Metzbower, senior attack Matt Alrich and junior midfielder Bob Meunier. Also back are junior attack Andy Hipple and junior goalkeeper Chris Collins.

Top newcomers for the Hens include redshirt freshman midfielder Jordan Hall of British Columbia, who sat out the 2003 season with a knee injury, freshman midfielder Alex Smith of Boys Latin High School in Maryland and junior midfielder Joe Trentzsch of Essex Community College in Maryland.
