‘Millennial Manifesto’ foresees growing youth activism

3:39 p.m., Jan. 15, 2004--Scott Beale, a graduate student in the College of Human Services, Education and Public Policy, predicts in a new book that the U.S. will see a sharp rise in youth activism in 2004.

After five years of researching his book “Millennial Manifesto,’’ Beale said, “There is an untold story of youth activism in our country that, for far too long, has been ignored. The dominant perception that youth don’t care about politics couldn’t be more wrong.’’

Beale’s book focuses on activism among “millennials’’—Americans born between 1976 and 1996. It surveys the issues and individuals shaping that generation. The book, published by Instant Publisher, includes a foreword by William Strauss and Neil Howe, authors of “Generations.”

A graduate of Georgetown University, Beale has worked in politics in Dover and in Washington, D.C., and served as a supervisor organizing elections in Bosnia.

For more information about the book, coauthored with Abeer Abdalla, go to [http://www.millennialpolitics.com/].
