UD's McCormack is CAA Volleyball Rookie of the Week
9:50 a.m., Sept.30, 2003--University of Delaware freshman Claire McCormack has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Volleyball Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
McCormack, from Downers Grove, Ill., posted nine kills, 10 digs and five service aces in Delawares 3-2 win over LaSalle University on Saturday night. Earlier in the week, McCormack registered 13 kills and a career-high 29 digs in a 3-1 loss at Hofstra University.
For the season, McCormack is third on the team in kills with 85 and second in digs with 122.
This is the first time McCormack has received CAA honors, and she is the first UD volleyball player to earn conference honors since senior Liz Ommundsen was recognized in October 2002.
