Maxwell Club honors UDs K.C. Keeler, Andy Hall 10:57 a.m., March 1, 2004--University of Delaware football head coach K.C. Keeler and quarterback Andy Hall were honored Friday evening at the 67th annual Maxwell Football Club Awards at Harrah's Casino and Hotel in Atlantic City, N.J. Keeler was the recipient of the 2003 Tri-State Coach of the Year award after guiding the Blue Hens to their first NCAA Division I-AA national championship. Former UD coach and recent College Hall of Fame inductee Harold Tubby Raymond received the award in 2000. Hall was named the Tri-State Player of the Year after throwing for 2,764 yards and 25 touchdowns. He earned first-team Associated Press All-America honors and was the Atlantic 10 Football Conference Offensive Player of the Year. He also finished third in the balloting for the Walter Payton Award as the top offensive player in Division I-AA. The 2003 Fightin Blue Hens had the finest season in school history. The team finished with a 15-1 record, captured the Atlantic 10 title and capped a strong Division I-AA playoff run with a 40-0 victory over Colgate in the championship game. The Maxwell Award for College Player of the Year went to Eli Manning of Mississippi while his older brother, Peyton, the quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts, received the Bert Bell Award as the Pro Football Player of the Year. Pete Carroll of the University of Southern California was named the College Coach of the Year, and Kansas City Chiefs head coach Dick Vermeil was named the Pro Football Coach of the Year. Defensive Player of the Year honors went to Teddy Lahman of Oklahoma, and Dan Conner of Strath Haven High School in Pennsylvania took home the Maxwell Award as the Tri-State Area's High School Football Player of the Year.
