MALS offers course on modern art 1:28 p.m., Feb. 6, 2004--The University of Delawares Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) Program is offering an elective course, 20th-Century Art (MALS667-431) on the Newark and Georgetown campuses during spring semester. The class will be held from 6-9 p.m., Mondays, on the Newark campus and from 5:30-8:30 p.m., Tuesdays, at the Georgetown campus. Taught by art historian W. Barksdale Maynard, 20th-Century Art will explore modern art from Matisse to Mapplethorpe in the fields of painting, sculpture, photography and architecture. The MALS Program offers a liberal arts education at the graduate level and allows mature adults to further their personal and intellectual growth, according to MALS director Gary May, professor of history.
