UD Library hosts workshop for office staffers Jan. 22

9:55 a.m., Dec. 11, 2003--A “Library Orientation and Training-to-Find-Information” session for UD secretarial and office administrative staff will be hosted by the UD Library on Thursday, Jan. 22.

“These workshops, which have received the highest kind of rating as a staff development activity, have been extremely popular,” Susan Brynteson, May Morris Director of Libraries, said. “We have received very positive feedback about the usefulness of the information gained in meeting job responsibilities.”

The workshops will meet in the Morris Library Class of 1941 Lecture Room from 10-11:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 22.

Training subjects associated with the use of electronic resources include:

  • Library databases, especially Lexis-Nexis and Subject Guides to the Internet (“Best of the Net”);
  • Periodical full-text databases;
  • AskRef and AskRef Live!;
  • DELCAT;
  • Electronic journals; and
  • Article Express.

    An overview of nonelectronic library services and an introduction to useful reference works also will be conducted. There also will be an opportunity to ask questions and to identify further topics for future workshops. Light refreshments will be served.
