Liberty Day celebration promises fun, fireworks

2:44 p.m., June 18, 2004--Celebrate the Fourth of July at Newark’s Liberty Day festivities from 4-9 p.m., at the UD Athletic Complex. Parking is available on campus and in DaimlerChrysler parking lot number 2.

The free event features food, crafts, community information and entertainment by local artists, including Maggie’s Farm, Special Delivery, the Honeycombs and the Juveniles.

The children’s area will offer games of skill and chance, inflatable fun and performances by Crash the Clown, the Juggling Hoffmans, Yosi, Peter Moses and Danny and Kim Adlerman.

Liberty Day, which has been a community event since 1976, will culminate in a fireworks display at dusk.

Because of the heat and large number of people expected, pet owners are asked to leave their pets at home for their safety and the safety of those attending Liberty Day.

For more information contact the City’s Parks and Recreation Department at 366-7060.

The rain date for fireworks only is July 5. For cancellation information, call 366-7147.
