Lecture on 'appropriate technology' set April 13

12:11 p.m., April 9, 2004--Carroll Pursell, Adeline Barry Davee Distinguished Professor at Case Western Reserve University, will discuss “When Small Was Beautiful: The Rise and Fall of the Appropriate Technology Movement in America” at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 13, in 203 Munroe Hall, as part of the History Workshop in Technology, Society and Culture lecture series.

The lecture is free and open to the public.

Past president of the Society for the History of Technology and the International Committee for the History of Technology, Pursell is the author of “The Machine in America: A Social History of Technology” and “White Heat: People and Technology.” He earned his master’s degree at UD in 1958.
