Nov. 14 lecture addresses science-philosophy balance
2 p.m., Nov. 6, 2003--Madeleine Jacobs, editor-in-chief of Chemical & Engineering News, will give the Department of Chemical Engineering’s Jack A. Gerster Memorial lecture at 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 14, in Pearson Hall Auditorium.
The lecture, “The Two Cultures, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance,” will address the inter-dependence of science and philosophy and will illustrate the relationship by drawing on examples from the books “The Two Cultures” and “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.”
The free event is sponsored by UD’s Department of Chemical Engineering and will be preceded by a 9:30 a.m. reception in the lobby outside Pearson auditorium. For more information, call 831-4500.
