2:35 p.m., May 12, 2004--A roundup of recent news items about UD, its faculty, staff and alumni.

A story in the May 9 Mail on Sunday of London features the research of Norman Wagner, professor of chemical engineering, who is developing lightweight and flexible liquid body armor.

The UD Disaster Research Center is highlighted in a commentary in the May 8 New Scientist, which notes that governmental authorities underestimate the ability of civilian populations to cope with disasters. The center recently celebrated its 40th anniversary.

ALUMNI

Larry Probst, who holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from UD, is the new chairman and chief executive officer of Electronic Arts. He is featured in an interview in the May 9 issue of the San Francisco Chronicle.
