Multiple reunions set, 8 Presidential Citations to be awarded Homecoming Weekend

1:40 p.m., Oct. 10, 2003--The Presidential Citation for Outstanding Achievement honors University of Delaware graduates of the last 20 years who exhibit great promise in their professional career and/or public service activities. The newest recipients will be honored at a ceremony at 4:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 17, in Mitchell Hall.

Recipients are:

Terrance A. Bowman ’95, manager, Technology Solutions Accenture;

Christopher J. Christie ’84, United States attorney, District of New Jersey;

David J. Freschman ’84, president, Delaware Innovation Fund;

Nora W. Kennedy ‘86M, Sherman Fairchild Conservator of Photographs, Metropolitan Museum of Art;

Lisa M. Maurer ’86, coordinator, Center of LGBT Education, Outreach and Services, Ithaca College;

Vincent P. Meconi ‘84M, secretary, Department of Health and Social Services, State of Delaware;

T. Tucker Norton ’93, applied biotechnology research manager, DuPont Co.; and

John G. Partilla III ’86, executive vice president and managing partner, Young & Rubicam, Inc.

Alumni are invited to come back to campus for Homecoming Weekend, catch up with old friends at a reunion and watch the Blue Hens battle Rhode Island University. These reunion events are all scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 18.

There will be a Homecoming Brunch from 10 a.m.-noon, in front of Townsend Hall for the Class of 1953. Then, at 5:30 p.m., the Class of ’53 will have its 50th Reunion Celebration in Trabant University Center.

The Class of 1958 will have a Reunion Row Tailgate at Delaware Stadium from 10 a.m.-noon. After the game, the Class of ’58 will have its 45th reunion celebration dinner at 6 p.m. at Clayton Hall.

Members of the Class of 1983 and the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics Alumni Association are invited to attend a Reunion Row tailgate party at Delaware Stadium from 10 a.m.-noon.

The College of Human Services, Education & Public Policy Alumni Association will have its Reunion Row tailgate party from 10:30 a.m.-noon at Delaware Stadium. Call (302) 831-2394 for more information.

A Homecoming brunch is set for 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Embassy Suites Hotel, across from Delaware Stadium, for the Nursing Alumni Association classes of 1963, 1968, 1973, 1978, 1983, 1988, 1993 and 1998. Outstanding Alumni Awards are presented annually at Homecoming to an alumnus and alumna in recognition of their exemplary volunteer work on behalf of the University and the University of Delaware Alumni Association. Recipients for 2003 will be Dick and Ellen McQuaid Harris, Class of 1952, who served as president and vice president of their class, met at UD, and subsequently were married. They have been involved and active alumni ever since.
