UD jury expert to discuss Tyco case 4:36 p.m., April 14, 2004--Valerie P. Hans, professor of criminal justice and psychology at UD, will discuss juries, jury deliberations and the Tyco case from 10 a.m. to noon, Thursday, April 15, on WHYY (91 FM) Radio Times with Marty Moss-Coane. A New York Supreme Court judge earlier this month declared a mistrial in the case against Dennis Kozlowski and Mark Swartz, two former Tyco executives accused of stealing hundreds of millions of dollars from the company and its investors, citing undue pressure on a member of the deadlocked jury after two newspapers published her name. Hans is an expert on jury selection, jury decision-making, jury reform, juries and the death penalty. She authored the book, Business on Trial: The Civil Jury and Corporate Responsibility, and coedited Crossing Boundaries: Traditions and Transformations in Law and Society, Research and Everyday Practices and Trouble Cases.
