Seniors raises more than $25,600 for class gift
The gift was announced by seniors Alli Garwood and Amy Bousa, who co-chaired the 2004 senior class gift committee. Garwood said the committees original goal was $15,000 and that one of the goals of the campaign was to raise awareness about the importance of giving back to the University. We received gifts from parents, alumni and friends, Garwood said, however, I am proud to say that more than 50 percent of the support of this years gift came from members of our senior class. This is a significant indication of the pride that we show in the University of Delaware and our commitment toward its continued excellence. Bousa said the decision to commit the money to replacing the linden trees was decided on by a class poll and that the project also will include landscaping and other enhancements to the campus. It is evident that the senior class is thankful for all of the opportunities that the University of Delaware has given to them because, as of today, we have received nearly 1,000 donations for a total of gifts and pledges of $25,600. We would like to personally thank all of the members of the senior class, families, friends and alumni who paid tribute to the Class of 2004 through their gifts. In accepting the gift, UD President David P. Roselle said, We are grateful for your demonstration of loyalty and, as our about-to-be newest alumni of the University of Delaware, you should feel very proud indeed.
