UD violinist Xiang Gao to perform in Mexico

3:18 p.m., April 1, 2004--World-renowned violinist Xiang Gao, assistant professor of music at UD, will perform with the State of Mexico Symphony this weekend in Mexico on Friday, April 2. He will perform the Bruch violin concerto in a major concert for visiting world leaders attending the "2004 World City Conference" hosted by the government of Mexico.

Gao will perform on the rare Italian concert violin, made by the master maker G.B. Ceruti before 1810, which recently was purchased by UD. Gao’s premiere performance with the violin was held before a sold-out crowd in February at the Grand Opera house in Wilmington. For more information, visit [www.udel.edu/violin].
