Blue Hens climb to No. 4 in national football polls
9:55 a.m., Sept.30, 2003--The University of Delaware football team has climbed to fourth in both national NCAA Division I-AA polls after its 24-14 victory over Hofstra University on Saturday.
The Fightin Blue Hens are ranked No. 4 in the Sports Network/CSTV poll and in the USA Today/ESPN poll, both of which were released Monday. Delaware was ranked seventh last week in the Sports Network/CSTV poll and sixth in the USA Today/ESPN poll.
In both polls this week, McNeese State holds the top spot, followed in order by Western Illinois, Villanova and Delaware.
In the Sports Network/CSTV poll, the Hens received one first-place vote and Villanova, a fellow member of the Atlantic 10 Football Conference, collected 12. Villanova received four first-place votes in the USA Today/ESPN poll.
Bethune Cookman, Western Kentucky, Furman, Montana, Massachusetts and Northeastern round out the top 10 in the Sports Network/CSTV poll.
