Film historian to give pair of presentations April 19-20

4:10 p.m., April 15, 2004--Noted film historian and biographer Scott Eyman will bring “Laughter in Paradise” to 005 Kirkbride Hall at 7 p.m., Monday, April 19.

“Laughter in Paradise” is an introduction to Ernst Lubitsch’s classic 1932 film comedy “Trouble In Paradise.” A screening of the film will immediately follow the presentation.

Eyman will make another presentation at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 20, in 037 Memorial Hall. “You Do What You Always Did: You Just Add Talking” is a discussion of Hollywood’s awkward transition from silent to sound films. A screening of “Singin’ in the Rain” will follow that talk.

Eyman is the author of a biography of Lubitsch, as well as such books as “Mary Pickford: America’s Sweetheart” and the forthcoming “Lion of Hollywood,” a biography of Louis B. Mayer. He also is the book editor for the Palm Beach Post.

Both presentations are sponsored by the English department and are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Linda Russell at 831-1974 or e-mail [lrussell@udel.edu].
