UD field hockey team ranked No. 18 in national poll

10:12 a.m., Oct. 28, 2003--The University of Delaware field hockey team is ranked No. 18 in NCAA Division I in the STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll released Tuesday.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens, who snapped a four-game losing streak with a pair of weekend victories and improved to 12-6, slipped one spot from No. 17.

UD fell a spot largely because of a jump by Ohio State University, which moved from No. 18 to No. 15. The Buckeyes are coached by former Blue Hen star Anne Wilkinson and upset Michigan 2-1 on Sunday.

UD is one of three Colonial Athletic Association teams in the top 20. Old Dominion University is ranked No. 12 and the College of William & Mary is ranked No. 14.

Wake Forest continues to hold the No. 1 ranking, followed by Duke, Maryland, North Carolina, Michigan State, Michigan, Penn State, Princeton, Iowa and Northeastern.
