UD's Evans top rookie in CAA field hockey

2:30 p.m., Sept. 16, 2003 --University of Delaware freshman field hockey player Katie Evans has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday, Sept. 15.

Evans scored a goal in each of Delaware’s games last week, netting the lone goal in a 2-1 overtime loss to the University of the Pacific and the first goal in a 3-1 victory over Ball State University.

Evans, a forward and midfielder, is the second UD player to be named Rookie of the Week. Freshman goalkeeper Megan Allen was honored on Sept. 2.
